Justin Chan was passing out free boba in his dorm as a Cal Poly freshman in 2016. After multiple week-long trials and months of progress, Justin settled on the right leaf, the right time, and the right flavor profile to find the balance.
Today, Justin & his team run their first storefront in SLO Public Market along with multiple popups at Cal Poly SLO & the Downtown Farmers’ Market. Sequel represents the next chapter of boba tea. Their logo, both a leaf & a quill, captures the brand's dual identity of quality tea & storytelling. Sequel desires to partner with customers to create spaces for stories (and their sequels) to be shared.
Chan’s passion and desire to fill a need in the evolving boba market, especially in San Luis Obispo, was the inspiration behind Sequel Tea. Justin wanted to highlight his cold brew boba tea, but also wanted to provide a place for people to come together.
